The Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS is one of the largest ICT institutes in the Fraunhofer Society.

The “Software-based Networks” (NGNI) business unit develops efficient, scalable, and application-optimized communication technologies and architectures for the digital world and is looking for students to provide scientific support for its research projects.

What you will do

You will support our research department with various activities.

These could include the following:

• Software development and Software Testing
• Using testbeds
• Working on projects related to the further development of Open5GCore (www.open5GCore.org), particularly for the realization of software-based demonstration prototypes
• Working on the Open6GCore platform (www.open6gcore.org) for the implementation of a 6G core network
• Evaluating and validating the latest telecommunications technologies and concepts

What you bring to the table

• You are enrolled as a student in computer science, computer engineering, technical computer science, business informatics, or a comparable degree program for at least two more semesters
• You have advanced knowledge of C
• You have basic knowledge of Python and RUST
• An understanding of networks and telecommunications networks as well as a basic understanding of ML is required
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures as well as Git usage is advantageous
• You have good German and English skills
• Teamwork and communication skills, as well as a willingness to develop, round off your profile

Remuneration is based on your academic progress and ranges from €15.74 to €17.27 per hour.
