The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS is one of the leading epidemiological research institutions in Germany and a member of the Leibniz Association. The unit has extensive statistical expertise for studies based on the so-called pharmacoepidemiological research database (GePaRD) that has been established at BIPS and on the Bremen Cancer Registry. In particular, the research focuses on strategies to avoid sources of bias such as the target trial approach (bips-institut[dot]de/en/research/cross-departmental-working-groups/working-group-gepard-target-trials-for-causal-inference-gettcausal[dot]html) and methods for dealing with time-dependent and/or unmeasured confounding.

We seek an excellent, open-minded, and team-spirited PhD candidate who is interested in statistical aspects of secondary data analysis and applications in epidemiology.

Aufgaben
  • Develop new statistical methods for secondary data analysis and apply them to GePaRD data
  • Develop and prepare statistical analysis plans for target trial emulation in e.g. post-authorization safety studies and conduct the analyses
  • Publish and present research results
