A public research institution is seeking a PhD candidate in Statistical Modeling. The role focuses on developing statistical methods for secondary data analysis related to health research. Candidates should possess a Master’s in (Bio-)statistics or Mathematics, and experience in epidemiological studies is desirable. Proficiency in SAS and R, along with a good command of English, is required. The position offers a structured PhD program within an international environment.
Salary scale 13 of the German public sector salary system (TV-L)
The position starts as early as possible (administrative clearance permitting). The contract is initially limited to 3 years (extension possible), 39.2 hours/week (100% position). The position is generally suitable for part-time employment.
epidemiological research institutions in Germany and a member of the Leibniz Association. The position is in the Statistical Modeling of Secondary and Registry Data Unit. The research interests of the unit are new statistical methods to estimate the use, effects, and risks of medications based on secondary data and to estimate the progress as well as the survival of cancer. The unit has extensive statistical expertise for studies based on the so-called pharmacoepidemiological research database (GePaRD) that has been established at BIPS and on the Bremen Cancer Registry. In particular, the research focuses on strategies to avoid sources of bias such as the target trial approach (https://www.bips-institut.de/en/research/cross-departmental-working-groups/working-group-gepard-target-trials-for-causal-inference-gettcausal.html ) and methods for dealing with time-dependent and/or unmeasured confounding.
