About the Team

Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Staff Software Engineer – Mobile (Kotlin / Multiplatform) Overview

As aStaff Software Engineer – Mobileat Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you are a highly experienced individual contributor and technical leader with deep expertise inKotlin-based mobile developmentand a strong track record of shaping mobile architecture at scale. You bring expert-level experience withKotlin and Jetpack Compose, along with proven ownership or strong experience drivingKotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM)andCompose Multiplatformstrategies.

You operate as atechnical authority and force multiplier, setting direction across teams, influencing architectural decisions, and elevating engineering standards. You thrive in a fast-paced, product-driven environment where your combination ofhands-on delivery, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadershiphas a measurable impact on both engineering outcomes and customer experience.

You’ll join theFanatics Casino team, which owns the full iCasino experience across Fanatics platforms—including our standalone Casino App, iCasino within the Fanatics Sportsbook & Casino App, and our Casino Desktop website. Our mission is to build the top online casino in the U.S., with an emphasis on fun, dynamic, and entertainment-first products that resonate with our most valuable customer segment:Spinners.

Our mobile stack is built for speed and scale, powered by modern technologies likeKotlin, Jetpack Compose, Compose Multiplatform, SwiftUI, and KMM. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a key role in evolving this ecosystem—drivingcross-platform strategy, platform consistency, and engineering excellenceacross teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve themobile architecture and cross-platform strategy, with a focus on scalingKMM and Compose Multiplatformacross the organisation.
• Lead complextechnical design and architectural decisions, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and user experience.
• Build and contribute toshared mobile platforms, libraries, and reusable components, enabling consistency and velocity across teams.
• Deliverhigh-impact features and platform improvementshands-on, particularly in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Drive adoption ofbest practices in mobile engineering, including modularisation, state management, testing, and performance optimisation.
• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliverintuitive, high-performance user experiences.
• Identify and execute on opportunities toreduce technical debt, improve system design, and enable faster iteration across teams.
• Own and improvedeveloper experience, including tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
• Define and influencemobile observability, performance monitoring, and reliability standards.
• Play a key role inincident response and on-call practices, helping improve production stability and response effectiveness.
• Mentor and guide engineers across teams, contributing to a strong culture oftechnical excellence and continuous learning.
• Influence engineering direction across squads, aligning teams to acohesive mobile platform vision.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and raising the technical bar across the organisation.
• Develop a deep understanding of the iCasino product, customer segments, and how we deliverentertainment-first experiences at scale.
• Be open to occasional travel to Fanatics offices and events for planning, collaboration, and team-building activities.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise inmobile developmentand strong Kotlin proficiency.
• Extensive hands-on experience building production mobile applications usingJetpack Compose.
• Proven experience with or ownership ofKotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM)and/orCompose Multiplatformin real-world environments.
• Strong understanding ofmobile architecture, app lifecycle, state management, and performance optimisationat scale.
• Demonstrated experience leadingtechnical direction and architectural decisionsas a senior individual contributor.
• Track record of deliveringscalable, maintainable systemsin complex, fast-moving environments.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, includingproduction incident ownership and resolution.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across teams, aligning stakeholders ontechnical strategy and trade-offs.
• Clear, effective communicator—comfortable engaging with engineers, product managers, and leadership.
• Experience operating infast-paced, product-driven environmentswith evolving priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep experience withCompose Multiplatform and advanced KMM usage in production environments.
• iOS development experience usingSwift and SwiftUI, or strong cross-platform mobile understanding.
• Experience building or contributing toshared mobile platforms or developer tooling.
• Strong familiarity withCI/CD pipelines, release automation, and mobile build systems.
• Experience withobservability tooling, performance monitoring, and improving production reliability.
• Background inhigh-scale consumer applications, gaming, betting, or entertainment platforms.
