Job summary

IFCO, a global leader in reusable packaging for fresh foods, is hiring for an Accounts Payable specialist. You will process invoices, manage non-PO payments, and ensure VAT compliance while supporting process harmonization in an international team.

This hybrid role offers collaboration across countries, SAP FI experience, and strong Excel skills. English and Croatian are required, German is a plus; join a sustainable, diverse workplace with learning opportunities and pension support.

Qualifications

• College degree in Business Administration or equivalent accounting qualification/experience.
• Experience in international environment with cross-country collaboration.
• Practical accounting experience, knowledge of VAT and Accounts Payable.
• Experience with non-PO accounts payable processing and selecting correct account elements (GL, cost center, approvers).
• Proficient in SAP FI and MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Invoice Processing: process supplier invoices and credit/debit notes, ensuring correct posting and VAT compliance.
• Cost assignment for invoices without PO: select GL account, cost center, approvers.
• Process Harmonization & Automation: support standardization of AP processes.
• Documentation Support: create and maintain process docs.
• Variance Analysis: analyze price/quantity variances and coordinate with other functions.
• Expense Management: handle travel and expense claims per policy.
• Payment Execution: run weekly payments accurately and on time.
• Period-End Closing: perform AP period-end closing and GR/IR analyses.

Key responsibilities:

• Invoice Processing - Process incoming invoices as well as credit and debit notes, ensuring correct posting and compliance with legal requirements, especially VAT.
• Cost assignment for invoices - Evaluate, decide and apply cost elements to ensure correct processing of invoices without PO (selection of GL account, cost center, approval workflows).
• Process Harmonization & Automation - Support initiatives to standardize and automate accounts payable processes across the organization.
• Documentation Support - Contribute to the creation and maintenance of clear and up-to-date process documentation.
• Variance Analysis - Analyse price and quantity differences for received goods and services and coordinate follow-ups with relevant functions.
• Expense Management - Manage and process travel and expense claims in line with internal policies.
• Payment Execution - Execute weekly payment runs when required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Period-End Closing - Perform period-end closing activities for Accounts Payable, including GR/IR analysis and clearing as well as creditor/debtor reclassifications.

We expect:

• Educational Background - College degree in Business Administration or an equivalent accounting qualification/experience.
• International Exposure - Experience working in an international environment with cross-country collaboration.
• Accounting Experience - Practical experience in accounting, preferably in Accounts Payable, with a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and VAT regulations.
• Experience in managing non-PO accounts payable invoice processing required with capability to clearly decide on selection of accountancy elements (account, cost assignment, approvers).
• Systems & Tools - Prior experience with SAP FI and advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Accuracy & Ownership - High level of accountability, precision, and reliability in daily work.
• Communication & Collaboration - Strong communication skills with a cooperative, solution-oriented mindset.
• Team & Cultural Fit - Team player with sensitivity for different company and country cultures.
• Language Skills - Fluent in English and Croatian, enabling effective communication in international and multicultural environments; German language skills are considered a strong advantage.
