ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Software Engineer within our Customer Data Platform Team, you will collaborate with a diverse and motivated group of team members. Your role will involve generating crucial insights to guide Zalando's business, which boasts over 51 million customers across 25 countries. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including web and backend engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders. WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• Join an agile and seasoned full-stack engineering team dedicated to building Zalando's Customer Data Platform.

• Design, construct and upkeep microservices utilising cutting-edge technologies like Python, Java, Databricks, Nakadi and Kubernetes.

• Ensure a state-of-the-art software development methodology.

• Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, each with different backgrounds and a broad spectrum of competencies.

• Consulting with engineers, analysts, data scientists, and product managers to build and continuously improve "Single Source of Truth" data products that create value for their users.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• You have at least 3+ years of experience as a data engineer working with Apache Spark, Databricks or similar. Knowledge of additional Big Data technologies like BigQuery, Kafka or other streaming applications is a plus.

• You have experience as a software engineer in Python, Java or other JVM based languages.

• You know and understand how to develop and operate on large scale distributed systems, microservices or other data processing systems.

• You are an advocate for agile processes, operational excellence, and coding best practices such as clean code, readability, and test-driven development.
