Hannover Re is seeking a Software Developer / Automation Engineer Underwriting at our Hannover headquarters, focusing on automation of underwriting processes and digitalising tools. You will contribute to the ILS team, bridging insurance and capital markets while learning fronting and underwriting.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree or equivalent in IT/DS/related field.
• Several years in automation/digital transformation/software projects.
• Experience with underwriting/insurance processes is helpful but not required.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong English and at least conversational German; clear communication.

Aufgaben

• Analyse underwriting processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Develop end-to-end technical solutions from requirements to deployment.
• Design and improve workflows for the ILS business.
• Introduce AI-driven approaches to digitalise processes.
• Build underwriting domain expertise over time.
• Analyse reinsurance contracts and monitor payments/claims.

Ausbildung

Do you want to develop technical solutions, automate business processes and at the same time gain insight into a truly unique business model? Then join our Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) team. In ILS, we connect the worlds of insurance and capital markets. We assume insurance risks and transfer them to institutional investors. While learning about this fascinating business, your main focus will be on the digitalisation, automation and continuous enhancement of our underwriting processes and tools.

You can look forward to

• Analysing existing underwriting processes and identifying opportunities for automation, digitalisation and sustainable efficiency improvements
• Developing technical solutions end-to-end, from analysing business requirements through to design, implementation and deployment into production
• Designing and enhancing workflows that support the ongoing development of our ILS business
• Introducing new technologies and AI-driven approaches to further digitalise our processes
• Gradually building your expertise in fronting and underwriting
• Analysing reinsurance contracts, following up on premium payments and monitoring claims developments

You come equipped with

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a comparable qualification with a focus on IT, data or process optimisation
• Several years of experience in process automation, digital transformation, software development or technical transformation projects
• Exposure to underwriting, insurance or financial services processes is an advantage, but not essential
• The ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into sustainable technical solutions
• The ability to structure business requirements clearly and actively facilitate collaboration between business and technology stakeholders
• Fluent English skills and at least conversational German, combined with clear and respectful communication
• You are open to feedback, contribute your own ideas and enjoy developing your skills in a dynamic environment
