Isar Aerospace SE in Germany is seeking a Senior Structures Design Engineer to lead the design and development of Spectrum launch vehicle primary and secondary structures. You will create CAD models, develop interfaces, and collaborate across analysis, production, assembly, testing, and quality to deliver a fully qualified product.

The role requires an MSc in aerospace or mechanical engineering and 8+ years in aerospace structures, with strong experience in lightweight and composite structures,

Senior Structures Design Engineer, Launch Vehicle Structures (m/f/d)

Mission Brief

As part of the structural design team, you will be responsible for the design and development of the primary and secondary structures of the Spectrum launch vehicle. You will be involved in the assessment of existing and new design concepts and provide technical guidance to other design engineers, while developing critical systems yourself.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

• Design and develop composite and metallic structures for the Spectrum launch vehicle
  • Be responsible for the development of critical primary structures, respective interfaces and adjacent secondary structures.
  • Create CAD models, manufacturingand integrationdrawingsincluding BOM.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams(Analysis, Production, Assembly & Integration, Testing, Quality, Avionicsetc)to deliver robust, innovative, andoptimizedstructural solutions that meet project requirements andhigh-qualitystandardsto derive a fullyqualifiedproduct.
• Define and establish design standards,best practicesand design documentation.
• Review designsand manufacturing drawings of the structures team.
• Prepare detailed road maps for the development of the productsand maintain their relatedtimelines up to date.
• Host weekly meetings with the affected stakeholders to ensure theefficientdevelopment of the product.
• Provide an agile answertoproduction and assemblyNon-Conformities.
• Definition of necessary Requirements and Engineering Change Requests.
• Company focal point for external suppliers.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance for design challenges in the team.

• Strong practical experience with SolidWorks, Siemens NX or similar CAD software
