Jobbeschreibung

Why now is a good time to join

  • We were founded last year, closed our pre‑seed round, and are growing steadily from around 15 people today to 20–25 over the next six to nine months. We have signed contracts, revenue in the millions this year, and a healthy pipeline behind it.

  • Real traction, not hype. Our customers range from the oldest brewery in the world to multi‑billion‑euro logistics players and a lot of German Mittelstand.

  • An unfair advantage on cost. Battery purchasing scale through our sister company lets us price in a way most startups in this space simply can’t, and we have serious infrastructure project finance know‑how in house.

  • A market that just tipped. Depot charging has gone from "will this work?" to "when do we start?" for truck electrification, and road transport is still one of the biggest untapped decarbonisation levers in Europe at roughly 8% of EU emissions.

  • A huge, early impact. You’ll be one of the foundational engineers on our platform, shaping the core of our technology as we scale.

Delta Charge is a German‑Swedish energy infrastructure company. We build charging and battery storage solutions that electrify commercial sites and their truck fleets, and we provide the full solution: planning, financing, construction and operations. Our team has already delivered some of the largest battery projects in Europe. Today we have over 150 MWh of storage capacity in development and plan to invest more than €300M by 2030. Our mission: make emission‑free road freight possible and strengthen Europe’s energy independence along the way.

What you'll do

  • Own the control loop. Build and run the distributed systems that connect our platform to IoT and edge sites: data ingestion, command dispatch, telemetry, observability and everything it takes to keep it reliable.

  • Improve the portfolio control plane. Work on scheduling algorithms, forecasting approaches, and multi‑site control strategies and orchestration.

  • Shape the architecture. Make the design calls that let this platform go from a handful of sites to dozens without falling over.

  • Work across the company. Team up with the CTO, our software engineer, and the technical sales and operations folks to turn messy real‑world site data into something that works.

  • Grow into technical leadership. Within a year, we'd expect you to fully own your domain and to support and coach engineers as the team grows.

What you bring

  • You like hard problems. Ambiguity doesn't bother you, and you'd rather find a pragmatic solution than wait for a perfect spec.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals. Solid backend, distributed systems and reliability chops. We care about how you think and build, not which language is on your CV.

  • A real sense of ownership. You want the freedom to build, and you stand behind what you ship, including when something breaks in production.

  • Comfort with startup reality. Priorities move and the roadmap isn't always clear. You roll with it and keep going.

  • You like working with people in the room. Thinking out loud, whiteboarding, figuring things out together.

Required:

  • A few years of professional software engineering experience. Straight out of university is likely too early, though we're happy to talk to exceptional engineers early in their career.

  • Experience building and running production systems, ideally including distributed systems, cloud infrastructure and observability.

Nice to have:

  • Experience where software meets hardware: IoT, edge devices, industrial control or energy systems.

  • A data science, optimisation or applied maths background (MILP, forecasting, statistical modelling).

  • German. It helps, but it's not a blocker.

What we offer

  • Real ownership. A core part of our stack that's yours to design and run.

  • A direct line to the Co-Founder & CTO. High visibility, short decision paths, and hands‑on coaching from an experienced founder‑engineer.

  • A long‑term seat at the table. The chance to become one of the technical anchors of the company as it grows.

  • A sustainable pace. We move fast, but we don't grind. Do good work and go home.

  • Permanent full‑time contract, starting as soon as you can.

  • A bright, beautiful office in the center of Munich.
