Job summary

Organifarms is a startup focused on harvesting robots for strawberries. The role develops computer vision pipelines for 7-axis greenhouse robots operating in dynamic lighting and moving targets. You will rapidly prototype on real hardware and contribute to advancing 3D perception, panoptic segmentation and vision-based control.

The ideal candidate holds a CS degree with robotics/vision, 3+ years in CV/ML, and strong Python/PyTorch/OpenCV skills. English is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in computer science with specialization in robotics, computer vision or a comparable field of study.
• 3 years of hands-on experience with 2D/3D computer vision, machine learning and 3D vision sensors.
• Profound skills with Python, PyTorch, OpenCV, Docker, Linux and Git.
• Experience with ROS 2 (Robot Operating System) in production.
• A passion for the development of innovative solutions and creative ideas to improve our robots.
• Team spirit and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Fluency in English is required, fluency in German is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop computer vision pipelines for 7-axis robots used for harvesting in a greenhouse with dynamic light and motion.
• Rapidly prototype designs on real hardware.
• Develop algorithms for panoptic segmentation of the environment and self-learning vision-based control.
• Develop 3D object detection and generation of collision objects using 3D perception sensors.
• Integrate new vision sensors to enhance environmental understanding.
• Develop vision-based tracking methods.

Your role at Organifarms:

• You will develop computer vision pipelines for 7-axis robots used for harvesting. Our robot operates in a greenhouse and faces a highly dynamic environment. Changing light conditions, fast robot movements and movable targets are challenges the vision system has to overcome.

• You will rapidly prototype your designs and ideas on real hardware

Depending on your skills and interests:

• Developing algorithms for panoptic segmentation of the robot's environment

• Developing self-learning vision-based robot control algorithms

• Developing 3D object detection, e.g., generation of collision objects using 3D perception sensors (LiDAR, stereo cameras) and their respective point clouds

• Integrating new vision sensors to enhance the robot’s understanding of the environment

• Developing vision-based tracking methods
