Job summary

GetYourGuide Global Services GmbH in Berlin seeks an experienced software engineer to join our cross-functional mission teams building scalable, reliable systems. You'll work with Java, Spring Boot, Vue.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and microservices to deliver high-impact features and support our marketplace platform.

You’ll mentor teammates, design, deploy, and iterate on experiments, and help shape AI governance while maintaining quality, security, and governance standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development in distributed systems.
• High proficiency in Java.
• Experience designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience building reliable and observable systems.
• Mature judgment in using AI tools and adopting new AI technologies while maintaining quality, security, and governance.
• Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, maintainable code.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-functional environment with engineers, designers, data scientists, and analysts.
• Design, launch, and iterate on A/B experiments to learn about customers.
• Continuously improve codebase, systems, and processes.

We work in cross-functional mission teams made up of backend and full-stack engineers, mobile engineers, data engineers, product managers, and designers.

Your mission

• Work in a cross-functional environment collaborating with other engineers, designers, data scientists, and analysts

• Help to enable your mission team to iterate fast and learn about our customers by designing, launching, and iterating on A/B experiments

• Continuously improve our code base, systems, and processes

• Design and develop efficient solutions that can continue to scale

• Mentor other team members and be involved with hiring

• Work on the full stack with a variety of technologies and frameworks like Java, Spring Boot, PHP, Vue.js, TypeScript, SASS, Node.js, MySQL, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Kafka, OpenSearch, Kubernetes

Your toolkit

• 6+ years of software development experience working with distributed systems or search engines.

• High proficiency in Java

• Experience designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems

• Experience with building reliable and observable systems

• Mature judgment in choosing when and how to use AI tools, proactively lead the team in adopting and evaluating new AI technologies, and support others in applying AI effectively while maintaining strong standards for quality, security, and governance.

• Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, and maintainable code

• Ability to prioritize and manage stakeholders; known for good communication and collaboration skills.

• Positive, proactive team player who is passionate about their craft, finds mentoring and sharing knowledge fulfilling.

• Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making mindset

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
