Due to continued growth across Europe, KM Lynskey is seeking an experienced Site Manager with strong data centre construction experience to join our European Operations team based in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Role
The Site Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient and successful day-to-day management of construction activities on large-scale data centre projects.
Reporting to the Project Manager / Contracts Manager, the Site Manager will take ownership of designated construction areas and work packages, coordinating site teams and subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive site management experience and the ability to operate effectively within fast-paced, technically demanding data centre environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate daily construction activities across designated areas of the project.
- Support the Project Manager and Construction Manager in delivering the overall project programme.
- Manage multiple subcontractors, supervisors and site personnel.
- Ensure adequate labour, plant, materials and resources are available to achieve programme requirements.
- Coordinate civil, structural, architectural and MEP construction interfaces.
- Develop and manage daily, weekly and short-term look-ahead programmes.
- Monitor subcontractor progress, productivity and manpower against agreed targets.
- Identify potential programme delays and implement corrective or recovery measures.
- Coordinate site logistics, deliveries, access requirements and lifting activities.
- Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements.
- Maintain excellent standards of Health & Safety across all construction activities.
- Review RAMS and ensure subcontractors comply with approved safe systems of work.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and quality inspections.
- Work closely with the project Health & Safety, Quality, Engineering and MEP teams.
- Manage quality inspections, snagging, punch lists and close-out activities.
- Ensure works are completed to a high standard and achieve a right-first-time approach.
- Coordinate construction areas for handover to MEP and commissioning teams.
- Maintain detailed and accurate daily site records, including subcontractor manpower, progress, deliveries, delays and significant activities.
- Produce accurate progress reports for senior project management.
- Attend and contribute to construction, coordination, programme, safety and client meetings.
- Identify design, engineering, procurement or construction issues that could impact programme delivery and elevate them appropriately.
- Manage client expectations and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with KM Lynskey's quality, environmental and management systems.
- Represent KM Lynskey professionally at all times.
Experience & Requirements
- 7–10 years’ construction experience, including experience in a Site Manager or similar senior site-based role.
- Previous Interior Fit-Out and Data Centre construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale, fast-track and technically complex projects.
- Strong experience managing subcontractors, work packages and CSA/MEP interfaces.
- Good understanding of construction programmes, look-ahead schedules and project priorities.
- Experience managing works through snagging, completion and handover.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, construction drawings, specifications, RAMS and technical documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project and construction management systems are advantageous.
- Fluent professional English and a full driving licence.
- Flexibility to work on projects across Europe.
Qualifications
- Degree, Diploma or Trade Qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Services, Engineering or a related construction discipline.
