Position Title: Senior Scientist (Analytical Chemistry)
Location: Pirmasens, Onsite

Position Overview

The Analytical Chemist (Senior Scientist) is responsible for independently evaluating, planning, and executing analytical tasks, while making informed decisions on prioritizing requests. This role plays a critical part in supporting cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality Management, Application Technology, Operations, Production, Regulatory Affairs, and Process Engineering. Strong German language skills are essential for successful collaboration across functions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assess analytical requests for raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, production samples, customer samples, and competitor products.

  • Plan and execute analyses to support R&D development milestones.

  • Critically evaluate results and determine analytical and physico-chemical parameters.

  • Prepare comprehensive analytical reports and, when required, presentations.

  • Develop, optimize, verify, and validate analytical methods; document in SOPs.

  • Monitor analytical instrumentation market; evaluate/select external service providers.

  • Provide expert support to R&D, Quality Assurance, Application Technology, Production, Regulatory Affairs, and Process Engineering.

  • Ensure operational safety and functionality of analytical instruments and associated software.

  • Safely handle, store, and document chemicals in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate new raw materials, integrate spectral data into databases, and develop test methods for material inspections.

  • Support customer requests in alignment with R&D, Sales, and Application Technology.

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or equivalent.

  • Fluent German and English language skills.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in analytical method development, optimization, and validation.

  • Familiarity with raw material evaluation and customer-facing technical support.

  • Prior experience in chemical industry analytical labs.
