ALTEN Consulting Services GmbH in Erlangen seeks a passionate Python backend engineer to own AI-powered applications in production. You will work on FastAPI/Flask backends, REST APIs, PostgreSQL and distributed systems, collaborating with AI, cloud and platform teams in an international environment.

You should have a strong background in Docker, CI/CD and testing, plus English fluency. The role offers hybrid work, flexible hours and continuous learning opportunities.

Qualifikationen

• Strong professional experience in Python backend development, including FastAPI, Flask or comparable frameworks, as well as debugging and maintaining complex codebases.
• Solid expertise in REST APIs, PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling, automated testing and collaborative Git-based development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native applications, monitoring tools and distributed systems; AWS experience is considered a strong advantage.
• Understanding AI-powered applications, including LLM integrations, RAG concepts, vector databases and AI service architectures, and fluent in English in an international environment.

Aufgaben

• Take technical ownership for reliable operation, monitoring and continual improvement of AI-powered apps in production.
• Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analyses and resolve issues across Python backends, React frontends, APIs, databases and AI integrations.
• Implement bug fixes and improvements while ensuring code quality through testing, reviews and CI/CD.
• Optimize performance, monitoring, logging, alerts and resilience, automating recurring operational tasks.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, cloud/platform teams and stakeholders to support deployments and operational excellence.
• Maintain docs, troubleshooting guides and runbooks while supporting knowledge transfer and long-term stability.
