Our client, a global STM Publisher, requires a new Senior Publisher for their Pharma portfolio. You’ll take strategic ownership of a defined portfolio of scholarly journals and shape its growth and future direction. You’ll work across open access and hybrid titles, identifying opportunities to strengthen journal positioning, launch new products, and build long-term partnerships.
This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll guide editorial strategy, manage key relationships across the research community, and ensure the portfolio delivers sustainable impact and performance.
Portfolio Strategy & Growth:
Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for your journal portfolio in line with the global strategy.
Review, refine, and evolve existing titles while assessing opportunities for launches, acquisitions, and new models.
Journal Development:
Define development plans that strengthen journal identity, positioning, and relevance.
Shape and adjust journal scope, quality standards, and editorial direction to reflect market trends and community needs.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and support your team with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture with strong communication and continuous learning.
Quality & Integrity:
Ensure journals operate to the highest ethical, editorial, and publishing standards.
Support continuous improvement in workflows, resourcing, and service delivery.
Performance & Analytics:
Use data to monitor progress against portfolio KPIs and drive decisions.
Act proactively to address challenges and unlock growth opportunities.
Community & Partnerships:
Build and nurture strong relationships with researchers, editorial boards, societies, and partners.
Stay close to the communities you serve and translate insights into strategic direction.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with colleagues across global offices, Production, Marketing, Sales, and more.
Represent the company professionally at conferences, meetings, and partner engagements.
PhD or Master’s degree (ideally in medicine or life sciences).
At least 5 years’ experience in academic publishing with a track record of managing international journal portfolios and society partnerships.
Proven success designing and executing journal development strategies, including transitions to open access.
Strong understanding of publishing ethics, editorial policy, and best practice.
Minimum 3 years of operational leadership and project management experience.
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Collaborative, accountable, and comfortable working across teams and cultures.
Willingness to travel for meetings, society visits, and conferences.
