Zusammenfassung

MERMEC Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of the MERMEC Group, seeks a Senior Product Manager to shape the product strategy for railway signaling, turning market needs into clear development priorities and guiding cross-functional teams through the lifecycle.

You will collaborate with customers, sales, engineering and operations to drive roadmaps, define KPIs, manage backlogs, and ensure safety compliance, while maintaining ownership and a hands-on, solution‑oriented mindset.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Railway Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and cross-functional collaboration in complex technical environments.
  • Experience translating market and customer needs into structured requirements and development priorities.

THE COMPANY

As Mermec Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of Compagnie des Signaux in France, part of the MERMEC Group, which operates worldwide, MERMEC Deutschland works closely with international teams and contributes to cross-border railway signaling and digitalization projects, particularly within the DACH region.

What we are looking for

As a Senior Product Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and developing product-related activities within a railway business. In this senior position, you will act as the interface between market needs, customer expectations, engineering capabilities and business objectives. You will contribute to the definition, positioning and development of product solutions and support their successful implementation across the product lifecycle.

Your Role
  • Define and own the product strategy and roadmap and business performance for railway signaling products in line with market needs, customer requirements and business objectives
  • Manage and drive product activities across the product lifecycle, from concept and development to implementation and continuous improvement
  • Act as a key interface between customers, sales, engineering, operations, and other internal stakeholders
  • Analyze market trends, customer expectations and competitive developments to support product positioning and portfolio decisions
  • Translate customer and business requirements into clear product priorities, specifications and development backlog
  • Own business case and support investment decisions, ensuring alignment with profitability targets and strategic objectives
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities and prioritize R&D efforts to ensure alignment between product goals, technical feasibility and project requirements
  • Drive make-or-buy decisions and manage product-level supplier contributions, ensuring effective integration into the product portfolio
  • Contribute to propositions and support go-to-market, bid and customer-facing activities
  • Monitor product performance and define KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement, standardization and further development
  • Ensure that product-related deliverables are aligned with applicable railway standards, safety quality and compliance
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Railway Engineering or a related field
  • At least 7+ years of professional experience in product management, project management, business development or a comparable role within the railway, mobility or technical industry
  • Experience in the railway sector, ideally with safety-relevant digital products, is a strong advantage
  • Good understanding of product lifecycle management, system architectures and cross-functional collaboration in complex technical environments
  • Experience in translating market and customer needs into structured requirements and development priorities
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills combined with a hands‑on, solution‑oriented approach
  • Professional working proficiency in German and English
  • Strong sense of ownership, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Willingness to travel as required by business needs
