Overview
Senior PR/PA Manager – Germany & Austria (12 Month Fixed-Term Contract) based in Berlin. The role is part of the easyJet external communications department and reports to the Head of EU PR & PA. The position focuses on managing communications in Germany and Austria with close collaboration with the Director of PR and Corporate Affairs, Country Directors/Managers, and the wider European PR and PA team.
Responsibilities
- Protect and enhance easyJet’s reputation with media and stakeholders in Germany and Austria, implementing easyJet’s public relations and public affairs strategy at a national level.
- Develop and oversee the execution of country communications plans, in coordination with the Head of EU PR & PA, and prepare materials such as press statements, stakeholder letters, speaking notes and briefing documents.
- Support easyJet’s sustainability objectives by working with the industry and policymakers to drive necessary changes. The airline has joined the UN-backed Race to Zero and aims to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
- Monitor and analyse local political developments and media coverage relevant to easyJet.
- Manage retained PR & PA agencies in Germany and Austria.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media, policymakers and external stakeholders in-country together with Country Managers and senior easyJet representatives.
- Coordinate pan-European media launches and provide a supporting role in the company’s crisis management procedures.
- Support on pan-European media issues and themes on an ad hoc basis and assist in other markets, particularly Switzerland, as needed.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota (1 in 8).
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Native German speaker with professional English proficiency; additional European languages are an advantage.
- Proven experience in communications, media relations, government affairs, politics or policy roles in a large corporate environment or integrated communications agency.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong interest in politics and media; good organizational skills and high attention to detail; ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlines.
