CRRC CHANGCHUN Germany RailTech GmbH, as the European R&D subsidiary of the headquarters, is forming a structural design and verification team for urban rail vehicles targeting the markets in Europe, the Middle East, South America, and North Africa.
We are recruiting a Senior Structural Design Expert with proven design experience and successful achievements in articulated bogies, low-floor light rail vehicles, and Tram-Train systems, capable of leading the team in complete-vehicle structural design, verification, and certification.
II. Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Technical Leadership
- Lead concept and detailed design for carbody structures, articulation systems, and bogie frames.
- Ensure that design solutions comply with EN, DIN, ISO, IEC and regional regulatory standards.
Verification & Certification
- Organize Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM), fatigue life calculations, and crashworthiness simulations and verification.
- Supervise static strength, fatigue, dynamic, and crash tests and associated verification work.
- Coordinate interfaces and certification processes with national authorities and notified bodies (e.g., Germany’s EBA and EU Notified Bodies).
Project Delivery & Customer Interface
- Participate in technical solution design during the bidding phase; support customer technical communication and supply-chain collaboration.
- Ensure that structural designs meet weight, cost, RAMS, maintainability, and life-cycle cost (LCC) targets.
- Introduce and apply advanced European and international design practices and project experience.
- Coach and develop team members; promote knowledge transfer and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Contribute to building the company’s next-generation international design platform for urban rail vehicles.
III. Qualifications
Education & Background
- Master’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Railway Vehicle Engineering, or related fields.
- At least 10 years of experience in structural design of urban rail vehicles, having led projects at European or internationally renowned design institutes/system suppliers.
Professional Skills
- Proven track record in articulated bogie, low-floor tram/LRV, and Tram-Train vehicle design.
- Proficient with CAD/PLM systems (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo) and structural simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN, Abaqus).
- Familiar with EN 12663 (structural requirements), EN 15227 (crashworthiness), EN 13749 (bogie strength), and BOStrab/VDV guidelines.
- Has successful project cases that are in operation or certified.
- Demonstrated leadership and cross-cultural communication skills; able to work with multinational teams and customers.
- Fluent English (German, Spanish, or French is a plus).
- Able to undertake short-term travel and provide project support in Europe, the Middle East, South America, and North Africa.
