Overview

Senior Legal Counsel AH Global Innovation role at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. The position involves providing comprehensive legal advice to the Animal Health (AH) Business Unit on business development and licensing initiatives, as well as supporting research, development, and clinical functions within the Global Innovation division. This role is based in Ingelheim.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the strategic legal partner to the AH Global Innovation division and serve as the primary contact for the Head of AH Global Innovation and members of the Global Innovation leadership team, including the Head of AH Business Development and Licensing.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on projects with a global impact, collaborating with cross-functional leaders and international legal colleagues.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide array of contracts such as licensing agreements, strategic alliances, collaborations with academic institutions and research organizations, and complex agreements supporting the AH development and clinical divisions.
  • Work with a global network of lawyers and patent attorneys, supporting innovation teams across Germany, France, and the United States.
  • Monitor developments in local and international laws to anticipate trends and develop strategies that provide a competitive advantage while addressing risks.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified lawyer
  • Long-term relevant legal experience and in-depth knowledge, ideally in the pharma and/or animal health industry
  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex international agreements in business development, licensing, research and development services, collaborations, and clinical operations
  • In-depth knowledge of international contract law, IP law and relevant commercial law including healthcare law, with basic understanding of competition law
  • Business partner oriented, proactive, outcome-driven mindset with ability to build professional relations at all levels
  • Curious and highly committed team player with strong analytical, strategic, creative thinking and effective influencing and communication skills
  • Excellent judgment on legal and compliance risks and business opportunities
  • Business proficiency in written and spoken English
