Job summary

European Energy Exchange AG in Leipzig sucht eine(n) SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR zur Verstärkung des Investigations-Teams innerhalb des Market Surveillance. Sie arbeiten eng mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus verschiedenen Fachbereichen zusammen und bringen juristische Expertise zu regulatorischen und aufsichtsrechtlichen Fragestellungen ein.

Sie beraten das Team bei regulatorischen Themen, erstellen Gutachten, unterstützen Untersuchungen und vertreten Standpunkte gegenüber Behörden.

Qualifications

• Volljurist bzw. gleichwertige Qualifikation
• Starke Kenntnisse im Aufsichts- bzw. Regulierungsrecht (insbesondere Energie-, Finanz- oder Kapitalmarktrecht)
• Erfahrung im Umgang mit Aufsichtsbehörden oder in regulierten Umgebungen
• Ausgezeichnete analytische und ausgeprägte Abfassung von Gutachten
• Selbstbewusste Kommunikationsfähigkeiten, Darstellung rechtlicher Positionen
• Gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

Responsibilities

• Interne Rechtsberatung des Market Surveillance-Teams zu regulatorischen und Compliance-Themen
• Anfertigen von Rechtsgutachten und schriftlichen Einschätzungen zu komplexen regulatorischen Fragestellungen
• Beitrag zu Untersuchungsberichten, einschließlich Bewertungen möglicher Marktmanipulation
• Darstellung der Arbeit und Ergebnisse von Market Surveillance nach außen gegenüber Aufsichtsbehörden
• Überwachung, Analyse und Interpretation neuer/regulierender Anforderungen (z. B. EU-Energie- und Finanzmarktrecht)
• Austausch mit Juristen anderer Börsen, Behörden und Institutionen zur Umsetzung der geltenden Regulierung
• Unterstützung bei der Weiterentwicklung interner Prozesse und rechtlicher Standards

The Market Surveillance Office of EEX monitors exchange trading to ensure the adherence to our rules and regulations, as well as national and international law. We are looking for a new senior legal advisor to join our Investigations Team. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues from different disciplines, providing legal expertise across a broad range of regulatory and surveillance-related matters and actively contributing to the integrity of energy markets.

Your Tasks

• Provide internal legal advice to the Market Surveillance team on regulatory and compliance-related matters
• Draft legal opinions and written legal assessments on complex regulatory issues
• Contribute legal analyses to investigation reports, including assessments of potential market abuse
• Explain and represent the work and results of Market Surveillance vis‑à‑vis external supervisory and regulatory authorities
• Monitor, analyse and interpret new and existing regulatory requirements (e.g. EU energy and financial market regulation)
• Engage in professional exchange with legal experts at other exchanges, authorities and institutions regarding the implementation and application of applicable regulations
• Support the continuous development of internal processes and legal standards within Market Surveillance

Your Skills

• Fully qualified lawyer (e.g. German Volljurist or equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction)
• Strong knowledge of regulatory law, ideally with a focus on energy markets, financial markets or capital markets regulation
• Experience in working with regulatory authorities or in a regulated environment is highly desirable
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and convincingly
• Confident communication skills and the ability to represent legal positions in discussions with internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in German and English (written and spoken) is required
