Zusammenfassung

SUNOTEC is seeking a Senior Grid Connection Manager to lead grid connection activities for Solar PV and BESS projects across SUNOTEC’s development and third‑party EPC delivery. You will work with grid operators, clients and technical teams to ensure compliant, timely connections.

Role requires 5+ years in grid connections, knowledge of MV/HV infrastructure, AutoCAD and MS Office, and German/English at B2 level. Munich-based, hybrid or home-based with travel up to 30%.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in grid connection projects.
• Strong knowledge of MV/HV infrastructure and protection concepts.
• Understanding of German grid connection requirements (VDE-AR-N 41xx, TABs).
• Experience with MV/HV construction management and coordinating multiple contractors.
• Practical experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• German and English at least B2 level.
• Holding a valid driving license with travel up to ~30%.

Every utility-scale Solar PV or battery storage project depends on a grid connection strategy that is technically sound, commercially realistic and executable within the project timeline.

SUNOTEC is an international system integrator of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. We have delivered more than 680 projects with over 15 GW of installed renewable energy capacity across multiple European markets, working across power generation, battery energy storage, grid infrastructure and lifecycle services.

As our project portfolio in Germany continues to grow, we’re looking for a Senior Grid Connection Manager to take ownership of grid connection activities across SUNOTEC’s own development pipeline and third-party EPC projects.

Why this role matters:

As Senior Grid Connection Manager, you’ll be responsible for moving Solar PV and BESS projects through the grid connection process, from early technical assessment and grid applications through detailed coordination, certification and commissioning.

You’ll work directly with clients, DNOs/TSOs, project development teams, project managers, contractors and suppliers. Your role will be to ensure that grid connection solutions meet the applicable technical requirements and regulations while remaining aligned with project schedules and commercial objectives.

This is a role with significant technical ownership and direct influence on whether projects can progress successfully from development into construction and operation.

Where you’ll make an impact:

• Own the grid connection process for Solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring applications are prepared and submitted on time and progress effectively through DNO/TSO procedures;
• Provide technical guidance during project development, assessing the factors that influence grid connection strategy, feasibility, cost and delivery timelines;
• Perform technical due diligence and risk assessments of proposed grid connection schemes and grid offers received from DNOs/TSOs, identifying technical and delivery risks early;
• Provide grid connection cost estimates and realistic delivery timescales to Business Development and Project Management teams to support project planning and investment decisions;
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with DNOs/TSOs, clients and technical stakeholders throughout the grid application and connection process;
• Review MV/HV technical designs, establish preliminary grid connection concepts and contribute to the negotiation and development of connection solutions;
• Manage contractors, suppliers and service providers responsible for different elements of grid connection delivery, including certification and protection testing;
• Take responsibility for grid connection certification and commissioning activities, including MV station commissioning and the coordination of contractors commissioning HV stations.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline;
• Bring at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, with direct experience in grid connection projects;
• Have strong technical knowledge of MV and HV infrastructure, including switchgear, cables, transformers and electrical protection concepts;
• Understand German grid connection requirements, including the VDE-AR-N 41xx series, TABs and other relevant technical standards;
• Have experience with MV and HV construction management and understand how grid connection requirements translate into project execution on site;
• Are comfortable reviewing and developing technical designs and coordinating multiple contractors, suppliers and technical stakeholders;
• Have practical experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office;
• Can communicate confidently in both German and English at a minimum B2 level, as you’ll work directly with grid operators, clients and international project teams;
• Hold a valid driving licence and are comfortable travelling up to approximately 30% depending on project requirements.

Experience with PowerFactory DIgSILENT or a switching permit for MV switchgear would be an advantage.
