Octopus Energy is seeking a frontend engineer in Berlin to help build scalable, accessible web applications using Next.js, React, and TypeScript. You’ll collaborate with marketing, operations, and data teams to deliver fast, reliable experiences for customers and partners.

You’ll work in a dynamic environment with a strong emphasis on accessibility, code quality, and thoughtful use of AI tools, while growing your skills through in-house tech talks and conferences.

Qualifikationen

• Deep and profound experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Next.js, Remix, Vue, React).
• Expertise in the architecture of scalable web applications using modern patterns (SSR, server components).
• Excellent proactive communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English and German at C1 level for collaboration with international teams and local partners.

What You'll Have

• Deep and profound experience with modern JS frameworks (Next.js, Remix, Vue, etc.)
• Expertise in the architecture of scalable web applications using modern patterns (server-side rendering, server components, etc.)
• Experience taking problems, rather than strict guidelines, and developing well fitting solutions, collaborating with others where necessary
• A keen eye for and expertise in accessibility — it's an integral part of your workflow, not an afterthought
• Clear thoughts on how to spend your time in the most impactful way. There’s always enough to do, but not everything is equally important
• Excellent proactive communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Conscious and responsible use of LLMs (Large Language Models) to assist with coding: you stay in control — AI is your tool, not the other way around
• English (C1 or above): Required for day-to-day collaboration with international engineering teams, code reviews, technical documentation, and participation in cross-team discussions
• German (C1 or above): Required for effective communication with local stakeholders and business partners

Nice to Have

• Python knowledge — our language of choice in the backend
• Experience in the energy sector
• Experience in adjacent fields (Backend, Infrastructure, UX Design etc.)
