Senior Equipment Engineer, WW AMZL Process Engineering Innovation – Amazon
WW Equipment Engineering Innovation team seeks an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to lead development and delivery of current and next-generation equipment for world-class delivery stations. This role involves end-to-end equipment development, collaboration with global vendors, and driving internal and external equipment quality control. A hands-on leader with experience in production part approval, manufacturing/plant engineering, and first article inspection is preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the WW technical expert for equipment development, including leading equipment testing and validation.
- Lead idea generation for innovative design/equipment solutions to existing operational problems.
- Create documentation for equipment solutions (design definitions, quality specifications, assembly instructions, equipment design standards).
- Generate structured plans to advance innovative equipment designs from ideas to assessment, pilot, and expansion.
- Own and deliver against plans with network reporting and approvals for all program stages.
- Provide technical expertise to other engineering teams and challenge suppliers and partners.
- Build large-scale proposals for WW Ops Engineering, collaborating with WHS, Planning, Launch, Procurement, Finance, HR, external partners and product teams.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing requests accurately and promptly.
- Own internal process innovations, road-mapping, and delivery of the given area of responsibility.
- Coordinate with tech/software teams to drive software enhancements and ensure alignment with physical design/process innovations.
- Travel up to 50% regionally and WW, based on business needs.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience).
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty.
- Experience with PPAP, manufacturing/mechanical plant engineering, and FAIR.
- Experience with introducing new vendors and vendor technical quality management.
- Experience taking equipment from concept through validation and execution.
- Experience with automated material handling equipment, robotics, and high-speed manufacturing.
- Experience with Lean-based process design.
- Experience in capital project management with ownership/management of engineering design projects.
- Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience).
- 5+ years in Operations.
- Experience in logistics, production business, plant manufacturing (e.g., automotive, aerospace) or related mechanical engineering industries.
- Experience in roles spanning multiple locations/regions/countries.
- Experience in innovation/R&D teams.
