The Senior Employee Relations (ER) Manager

Amazon’s readiness around forthcoming EU regulations is steered by the Senior ER Manager who manages trade union relations, employee engagement, and organizational transformation across the EU. The role is part of the Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) team and reports directly to the EU EXR Risk, Project & Compliance leader. Close collaboration with country, business line, pan‑EU and global stakeholders (notably the Global Labor Relations Team) ensures compliance, drives employee engagement on essential priorities, and enhances Amazon’s agility to manage ambiguous and complex situations.

The role can be performed from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, and the UK with up to 30% travel, mostly within the EU.

Key job responsibilities
  1. EU Regulatory Compliance and Coordination – Coordinate the EXR effort related to upcoming EU regulation, including working with Public Policy to identify approved and emerging regulations; conducting impact analysis at pan‑EU level and supporting gap analysis across EU countries; coordinating the preparation required at country level; and being accountable for the EXR working backward plan of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
  2. Third‑Party Strategy Management – Lead the pan‑EU strategy for third‑party activities at EU federation level by maintaining up‑to‑date information and external insights about relevant developments and trends; developing engagement strategies in collaboration with Public Policy and Public Relations; and providing reactive and proactive recommendations for third‑party management, notably in case of significant development (UK reform).
  3. Employee Engagement and Pride Campaigns – Design and deliver training actions to enhance ER capacities within the HR and Senior leaders’ functions; collaborate with Public Relations and Internal Operations Communications to design and develop campaigns that enhance employee pride on Amazon; lead “test & learn” initiatives, creative thinking, and action to improve employee sentiment.
  4. Labor Relations Framework Development – Develop the LR framework for major transformation cycles (e.g., site lifecycle milestones) to increase pan‑EU standardization, lower costs, and reduce time to deliver while enhancing stakeholder and associate satisfaction.
Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Employment Law, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in Employees and Labor Relations management with a focus on pan‑EU coverage and complex stakeholder relationships in a matrix environment, including third‑party engagement at EU federation level.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English (C2) and at least one other European language, including but not limited to French, Spanish, Italian, German.
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate complex ELR concepts into actionable strategies.
