Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Anori Tech in Hamburg is recruiting a senior firmware engineer to lead core parts of our Rust-based BMS firmware. You will own end-to-end features, influence architecture, and work closely with Stefan, our CTO, on decisions shaping the product.
Start date January 1, 2027, with a focus on robust testing and real hardware validation. Join a small, ambitious team building a software-defined BMS platform for batteries, delivering rapid hardware-to-software integration and strong engineering
The world talks about batteries, cells and the energy transition. Almost nobody talks about the Battery Management System (BMS) that makes them work.
As battery applications multiply, from robotics and mobility to data centers and grid-scale storage, BMS complexity is exploding. Legacy BMS architectures were never built for this: too rigid to keep up with new requirements, they've turned the BMS into the bottleneck of battery development.
We're building something different: a novel software-defined BMS architecture combined with an AI-driven configuration process. It gets battery manufacturers the right BMS for their exact use case within days, regardless of application or cell chemistry.
We're building the battery management system platform of tomorrow. Delivered in days, not years.
Join us and shape one of the fastest growing markets in the energy sector: The BMS market.
At Anori Tech, we believe everything is energy, and progress runs on it. With Anori we actively shape the energy transition: from oil to electric, from low to high efficiency. We need batteries for this transition and almost all batteries need a BMS. We strive for Shenzhen speed and German engineering quality. Our objective: put Europe back on the map in the race for the energy transition and build technical leadership out of Hamburg.
Our firmware team is growing, and we are looking for a senior engineer to take the lead on core parts of it. You'll own major parts of the embedded Rust firmware at the heart of the BMS, deliver features end to end on your own and help shape how the firmware is built. Together with Stefan, our CTO, and our embedded Rust engineer, you'll take on architecture decisions and code reviews and help take us from a tested prototype to a fully certified product. The technology is proven, the funding is secured, and the foundations you set now will define how every future Anori BMS works.
Start date: from January 1, 2027
Own, design, implement and ship firmware features for the BMS, from requirement to verified release
Extend our middleware and independent modules into one real-time system: their control and data flow, scheduling and how they stay predictable under load
Mentor other engineers on the team, lead code reviews and raise the bar for code quality across the team
Set and evolve the engineering practices that keep the firmware trustworthy: testing, CI/CD, HiL, coverage and end-to-end requirements traceability
Debug and trace on real hardware across ARM and RISC-V cores, down to interrupt priorities, the memory map and timing of individual functions
Must have
Several years of production Rust on embedded targets (no_std), including features you designed and shipped yourself
Experience making, documenting and defending architecture trade-offs for embedded systems
A quality mindset: hands-on test experience, CI and coverage as everyday tools, and code reviews with constructive feedback.
Critical, analytical, systematic thinking: you reason from first principles, make your assumptions explicit and challenge existing paradigms
Strongly preferred
Deep embedded experience incl. async Rust on embedded targets, down to the executor: futures, wakers, pinning
Architecture of multicore and multi-controller systems: the partition of work, data and timing across cores and controllers
Hands-on debugging and tracing on ARM and RISC-V
Knowledge of various communication protocols and stacks: CAN, LIN, BLE, LTE modems
Basic hardware skills: reading schematics, working with an oscilloscope, board bring-up, debugging
Nice to have
Formal methods for embedded software: model checking, or a proof of a scheduling or memory property
A background in safety-critical (IEC 61508, ISO 26262, …) and battery systems
Comfortable implementing numerical algorithms (filtering, state estimation) on constrained hardware
Experience mentoring other engineers
Work on a product with purpose that redefines the state of art: our product is a key part to enable competitive battery energy storage.
Work directly with the founding team on decisions that shape the company. The team is small, so your ideas will matter. A lot.
Challenging engineering in an industrial, but research-near environment. We bring research into the industry.
A modern stack and methods: Rust, MBSE, everything as code, and the best tools and techniques for the job, chosen on merit.
To be both supported and challenged: room to grow, and the expectation that you will.
You hold yourself to a high standard and don’t settle for "good enough."
You want to have a big say in what the Anori BMS looks like and how it works
You are eager to try out new tools and enjoy incorporating AI into your work to make your life easier and more productive
You are excited about startups and all the opportunities and uncertainties that come with it
You want to be an active part in accelerating the energy transition in Europe
You are comfortable with English as a working language
You are happy to be in the office most of the time because for fast decisions we need to be in the same room. We expect you to be in the office at least 3 days / week
P.S. Extra bonus if you tell us what your favorite type of tea is.
Anori Tech delivers a custom Battery Management System in days, not months. A configurable, software-defined BMS platform for battery manufacturers. We help Europe with the energy transition.
