Zusammenfassung

UK Power Networks is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Capital Programme and Procurement directorate in our London office. You will deliver high quality electrical designs to cost, time and quality targets and work within multi-disciplinary teams to energise projects.

The role requires strong design experience across 132kV, 33kV and 11kV systems, with chartered engineer status or progress towards it, and a proactive approach to mentoring others while maintaining safety and

Qualifikationen

  • Strong electrical engineering background with knowledge of power system and protection design at 132kV/33kV/11kV and intermediate voltages.
  • Ability to work with external engineering organisations and customers representing UKPN.
  • Final sign-off of designs in specific area with awareness of CDM Regulations.

Jobbeschreibung

This Senior Electrical Design Engineer - LPN will report to the Design Lead and will work within the Capital Programme and Procurement directorate in our London, Bidder Street office. You will be a permanent employee., Working across an Assets and Connections Portfolio, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing and assuring high quality electrical designs to an agreed scope. Designs to be delivered to cost, time and quality targets.,

  • Production of Electrical Designs that can be constructed in compliance with standards and CDM requirements with no supervision and assure others designs.
  • Deliver effective designs, which conform to all relevant Codes of Practice and company and industry standards (for all designs relevant to UKPN Sub-stations), in conjunction with Electrical Design.
  • Contribute to the production of technical, commercial, and contractual documents for procurement of engineering products.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Compliance with design assurance and audit processes.
  • Preparation of concept and developed design, from specifications and drawings within defined periods.
  • Provide an excellent service to the customer.
  • Work as a Team Player within larger multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Liaise with the operational teams to ensure a smooth process from initial enquiry through to final energisation and project closure.
  • Complying with the requirements of the designer / principal designer as determined by the 2015 CDM Regulations.
  • Ensure design eliminates any hazards which may give rise to risks; and reduce risks from any remaining hazards (in conjunction with CDM).
  • Supporting and mentoring other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge and experience., The post holder is required to undertake site visits as part of this role, and this will include entry to operational substations where compliance with safety rules and procedures is mandatory.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering design technical excellence.

  • Strong Electrical engineering background and experience in electrical engineering. Knowledge of power system and protection design at 132KV, 33KV, 11KV, and intermediate voltages.
  • Ability to work with external engineering organisations and customers/stakeholders representing UKPN to best effect.
  • Capable of final sign off of designs in specific area.
  • A good safety culture and sound understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application in this role.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, set and comply with own targets, and identify and implement innovative cost saving solutions.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop applications, in particular: Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be competent in written and oral communications.
  • Awareness of current and technological developments in distribution plant and equipment.
  • Degree level or equivalent in engineering or science.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving Chartership.
Desirable
  • Extensive Knowledge of design processes and relevant DNO, ENA and International Design Standards including relevant operational aspects to successfully deliver designs.
  • A good level of business, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory awareness.
  • A general appreciation of financial reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and or Micro station.
  • Broad knowledge of cables and overhead lines.
  • Input into innovative construction ideas and techniques, which feed into UK Power Networks Green Action Plan.

You will attract a salary of £84,160 plus inner London Allowance and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote
