Job summary

Gallup in Berlin is hiring a senior DevOps leader to design and optimize release pipelines, drive automation, and implement cloud infrastructure for scalable, reliable software delivery.

You will mentor engineers, manage multi-region releases on AWS, champion DevOps practices, and collaborate across security, operations, and development teams. On-site presence two to three days per week is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years designing and managing CI/CD solutions, with at least one year with GitHub Actions.
• At least five years working with AWS cloud technologies (ECS and Lambda), IaC tools (Terraform) and MySQL.
• At least five years scripting with Bash, Python or PowerShell.
• At least three years of containerization (Docker/ECS).
• End-to-end testing experience and strong security/compliance knowledge.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with software engineering, infrastructure and security teams to streamline delivery, reliability and observability


• Design, implement and maintain GitHub Actions-based CI/CD pipelines that support our diverse set of applications and services


• Drive adoption and continuous improvement of DevOps practices across platforms and environments, helping teams fully leverage our existing framework


• Manage releases across multiple AWS regions and environments, ensuring seamless delivery


• Solve complex infrastructure and deployment challenges with a strong focus on scalability, observability and automation


• Support teams working across multiple applications, stacks and languages, quickly understanding and adapting to full-stack architectures and deployment flows


• Mentor and coach infrastructure engineers, fostering a DevOps culture across software teams

What Makes You Stand Out

• DevOps expertise: You've built or significantly scaled a DevOps practice from the ground up.


• Strategic technical ownership: You have a strong sense of ownership in guiding DevOps strategy, tooling choices and architectural direction.


• Hands-on experience with modern tools: You have deep experience with GitHub Actions (CI/CD), AWS ECS, Docker and/or Podman container tooling, Terraform, CloudFormation, and observability tools like Dynatrace.


• Cross-functional collaboration: You work seamlessly with diverse application teams and quickly integrate into their workflows.


• Mentorship and team growth: You have a proven track record of mentoring others and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What You Need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or a related field, or equivalent experience, required


• At least five years of experience designing and managing CI/CD solutions, with at least one year of experience with GitHub Actions, required


• At least five years of experience working with AWS cloud technologies (including ECS and Lambda), IaC tools (especially Terraform) and MySQL required


• At least five years of experience scripting with Bash, Python or PowerShell required


• At least three years of experience withcontainerization technologies (e.g., Docker, ECS) required


• End-to-end testing experience required


• Deep knowledge of security and compliance industry best practices required


• Experience leading DevOps initiatives required


• Familiarity with SRE implementation and best practices required


• Working experience in an Agile environment required


• At least two years of experience leading technical design and implementation of DevOps solutions required


• A demonstrated track record of mentoring and supporting the growth of other engineers required


• Exposure to large, complex software solutions preferred


• A commitment to working on-site at Gallup's Berlin office two to three days per week required

We also offer an estimated annual salary range of €105,000-€135,000 for this role. Salaries are based on a variety of factors, including an individual's education, experience and skills.
