Job summary

shipzero is seeking a senior DevOps/Platform Engineer to design, build and monitor scalable cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance and security across our systems. You will lead IaC deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and observability with Datadog, while mentoring teams to adopt best practices.

Bring 5+ years of engineering experience in DevOps/SRE/platform or cloud infra, plus knowledge of ISMS and compliance. German is a plus. This hybrid role is based in Hamburg.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in engineering, with hands-on DevOps/SRE/platform/cloud experience.
• Experience deploying infrastructure via IaC.
• Knowledge of information security concepts (ISMS, controls, risk, compliance).
• Hands-on with AI tooling and AI-assisted automation.
• German language is a plus but not required.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiar with data pipelines, data warehouses and reliable data processing.

Your mission

• Conceptualize, manage and monitor cloud resources to improve overall performance and maintain efficiency
• Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, efficient, and automated software delivery.
• Drive our information security practices within engineering to help keep our architecture scalable, safe and compliant
• Explore and champion AI-assisted and agentic workflows across Product, Engineering, and other business functions, identifying opportunities for automation and implementing practical AI-powered workflows.
• Build and maintain observability via Datadog to support other teams
• Mentor other teams on DevOps best practices

Your skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant professional engineering experience, including substantial hands-on experience with DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience deploying infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Experience with information security topics and practices, including working with an Information Security Management System (ISMS), security controls, risk management, and compliance requirements.

• Hands-on experience with modern AI tooling and building AI-assisted, agentic and automated workflows across Product and Engineering.
• German language skills are a nice-to-have, not required
• Experience working with microservices architectures and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tooling, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and reliable data processing workflows, is a nice-to-have.
