Job summary

Fluence in Germany is seeking a Commissioning Engineer/Manager to lead utility-scale energy storage project commissioning across Germany. You will drive planning, testing, safety culture, and cross-functional execution with construction, suppliers, and customers, traveling up to 80% to on-site project sites.

The role requires strong technical problem-solving, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with Sales and Engineering to optimize project delivery and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, project execution, operations, or a closely related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience leading and promoting safety initiatives within operational or industrial environments.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges using structured problem-solving methods and data-driven analysis.
• Experience managing business processes related to project execution, project reporting, change management, workforce planning, and operational performance.
• Strong project planning, organization, and coordination skills across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at multiple levels within customer and partner organizations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Practical experience with SCADA systems and MODBUS communications.
• Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time.

• Partner with Sales and Sales Engineering teams during project development to support planning, resource allocation, timelines, and execution strategies.

Role Overview

As a Commissioning Engineer / Commissioning Manager, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of Fluence energy storage projects across Germany. You will be responsible for leading commissioning activities from project planning through execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with internal teams, customers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, you will oversee commissioning processes, drive continuous improvement, and promote Fluence's strong safety culture. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the successful deployment of clean energy infrastructure while collaborating with a diverse range of technical and project teams.

This position reports to the Germany Commissioning Manager and requires frequent travel to project sites.

Key Responsibilities
