Nexburg is looking for a Senior Cloud Platform & Kubernetes Engineer (m/f/x) in Aachen to join our development team at the earliest opportunity.
In this hands-on role, you will design, build, and operate the cloud, virtualization, and Kubernetes platforms used to deploy and run our distributed software products. The position combines deep Linux expertise with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, automation, networking, and security. You will work closely with our Platform Engineering and Development teams to ensure our products can be reliably deployed, secured, operated, and supported across customer environments, private clouds, and public cloud platforms.
- Design, implementation, and operation of Kubernetes-based platforms for internal and customer environments
- Development, maintenance, and support of deployments across Kubernetes, virtualized, bare-metal, and cloud infrastructures
- Creation and maintenance of Linux-based system images, cloud images, container images, installation media, software packages, and other deployment artifacts
- Automation of provisioning, configuration, hardening, patching, and lifecycle management of Linux systems and cloud platforms
- Implementation and continuous improvement of infrastructure automation using DevOps technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, and related tools
- Analysis and resolution of complex issues involving Linux systems, containers, Kubernetes, networking, storage, security, and distributed applications
- Close collaboration with Platform Engineering and Development teams to continuously improve deployment processes, platform reliability, security, and operational efficiency
- A degree in computer science or a comparable technical discipline is welcome, but equivalent professional experience and demonstrable hands-on expertise are equally valuable
- Several years of professional experience in Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, Linux system engineering, platform engineering, or a comparable role
- Deep hands-on knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, including installation, networking, storage, package management, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
- Strong experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes and familiarity with the broader CNCF ecosystem
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as virtualization and private-cloud technologies
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm, using Git/Gitlab based development workflows
- Experience building and maintaining container images, operating-system images, software packages, or automated installation solutions
- A solid understanding of system and platform security, including hardening, patch management, access control, vulnerability remediation, encryption, and network security
- Good understanding of networking concepts such as load balancing, TLS, VPNs, routing, firewalls, and service networking in Kubernetes environments
- Experience with telecommunications, networking products, cloud-native network functions (CNFs), or other distributed infrastructure products is an advantage
- Familiarity with C/C++ software environments and CI/CD platforms is beneficial
- Good written and spoken English skills
