Within Fulfillment, the Production Team focuses on the digital systems that enable efficient production processes — orchestrating how ingredients and components come together to create the final HelloFresh box. We develop the technology backbone that ensures our production operations run smoothly, reliably and flexibly.

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Production Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping and scaling the systems that power the operational processes behind every HelloFresh box.

You’ll be part of a cross‑functional team developing backend services that orchestrate real‑time production and fulfillment workflows, primarily using Python and C#/.NET within our ServiceStack‑based architecture.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and operations experts to translate real‑world production challenges into elegant, efficient, and resilient software solutions.
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll design, build, and operate systems that have a direct impact on how HelloFresh fulfills customer orders every day.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services powering HelloFresh’s production systems.
• Work primarily with Python and C#/.NET, leveraging our ServiceStack‑based service architecture.
• Take ownership of the full development lifecycle — from implementation to deployment and ongoing operations — following DevOps and CI/CD principles.
• Collaborate closely with a cross‑functional agile team, including product, frontend, data, and operations, to deliver impactful production solutions.
• Contribute to system reliability, scalability, and performance improvements.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help refine our technical direction as we continue to evolve our production technology.
• Mentor team members, share knowledge, and advocate for best engineering practices across the team.

What you’ll bring

• Strong backend development experience with Python and C#/.NET (both required).
• Experience with microservice or service‑oriented architectures, ideally using ServiceStack.
• Solid understanding of DevOps and CI/CD principles, and experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with event‑driven or message‑based systems (e.g. RabbitMQ).
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, TDD/BDD/DDD, and distributed system patterns.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• A collaborative mindset and passion for mentoring, continuous learning, and process improvement.
• A proactive, curious, and solution‑oriented approach to problem‑solving.
