Dormont Manufacturing Co is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) to join the Orion Team, responsible for core file management in our Virtual Data Room platform. This role involves all stages of the SDLC and emphasizes high-quality solutions with a focus on AI-driven features.

The role

Ideals is an international B2B SaaS company building a leading Virtual Data Room (VDR) platform used globally for highly sensitive data exchange. Our Engineering organization consists of ~100 professionals across 9 cross‑functional teams, each owning critical product areas.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (.NET) to join the Orion Team, one of the core teams behind the Ideals Virtual Data Room platform.

The Orion Team is responsible for the core file management capabilities of the VDR, including file operations, document workflows, access control, and search functionality. The team owns everything related to file lifecycle management, including:

• File operations and processing
• File permissions and access control
• Document publishing workflows
• E‑signature functionality
• Management of project‑based user teams and access roles
• Keyword‑based document search

In addition, the team actively works on AI‑powered features, including multi‑document RAG‑based search, enhancing how users discover and interact with information across large document sets.

Tech stack: .NET Framework 4.7, .NET 8, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, Web API, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Git.

What you will do

• Participate in all phases of the SDLC as part of a cross‑functional product team. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing (unit, integration, and service tests), building, deployment, and operation of new product increments, handling change requests, defect resolution, spikes, and proof‑of‑concepts
• Ensure high‑quality solutions by maintaining acceptable test coverage aligned with the Definition of Done criteria
• Be a proactive team player, contributing actively to the group’s efforts to complete tasks and achieve goals
• Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews
• Engage in mentorship and knowledge sharing within the team and the Engineering organization

What you bring

• Over 5 years of commercial experience in backend development using .NET Framework and .NET 6+
• B2 level proficiency in English, both spoken and written
• Solid understanding of the SDLC, along with software design and architecture principles
• Expertise in writing both unit and integration tests while ensuring that best practices for testing are integrated into every phase of development
• Expertise in API design principles, with a solid understanding of REST, RPC, including security considerations
• Experience with relational databases (preferably MS SQL Server / PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms ( AWS is preferred)
• Product‑focused approach, consistently striving to create value for users
• Strong sense of ownership, taking full responsibility for end‑to‑end development from design through to production support
• Proactive attitude and a growth mindset, with a strong orientation towards self‑development and continuous learning
• Interest in AI‑driven solutions, with openness to developing expertise in this area

Nice to have

• Experience in product or SaaS businesses
• Experience with .NET 8
• Experience with AWS (SNS, SQS, S3, EC2, OpenSearch) and Docker/Kubernetes
• Knowledge of security best practices in backend development
