What you’ll do

As Senior Developer (f / m / d) you will work in the Sustainability Engineering unit building applications that help companies run their business in a more sustainable way, contributing to a more sustainable world for everyone. Sustainability is one of three Growth Areas at SAP, ensuring a very dynamic and fascinating working environment. The team is highly motivated to meet the quickly changing market demands by building cloud‑native applications in a continuous‑delivery working model. You will join us and help design and engineer our applications securely, ensuring compliance with SAP’s high product standards around security.

As Senior Backend Developer with Security focus (f / m / d) you will:

• Act as the key contact for security questions within Sustainability Engineering, overseeing all applications in terms of security standards.
• Serve as the single point of contact for the corresponding BISO for Sustainability.
• Guide product development teams in critical security cases.
• Support development teams in data privacy related topics.
• Contribute to key development topics either within a development team or as part of a cross‑functional development team.
• Perform hands‑on development tasks and set up systems / tenants.
• Maintain thorough documentation and coordinate with central groups, especially around security.

What you bring

• Profound experience in software engineering with a track record of business application data‑model design and architecture work.
• Familiarity with Java or JavaScript, SAP Security product standards, and the HANA database.
• Experience with DPP and related standards.
• A strong network, especially in the security community, would be beneficial.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; German would be a plus.

Based in Walldorf, you will collaborate with teams in Potsdam, Brno, Munich, Markdorf, Sofia, Shanghai, and Bangalore.
