Agile Robots SE in Munich is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI solutions for robotic systems, blending multimodal learning and real-world constraints. You will collaborate across hardware and software teams to ensure reliable, high-performance AI applications.

The role requires hands-on experience deploying ML/DL models in industrial environments, excellent communication, and a passion for advancing robotics at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years experience with real robotic hardware and AI in industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of multimodal learning concepts (vision-language-action), including model architectures, training paradigms, and advantages/limitations.
• Hands-on experience deploying AI models in industrial or real-world use cases (e.g., reinforcement learning or world models).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-driven software applications (including Vision Language Action Models (VLAs)) for robotic systems, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, and other software engineers to integrate AI applications with robotic hardware
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and industry standards
• Test and validate AI applications in real-world environments, ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and robotics, and integrate relevant innovations into the development process

About the role

As a Senior Applied AI Engineer (Intelligent Application Focus) at Agile Robots SE, you will design, build, and deploy AI solutions that enable our robotic systems to solve real-world problems. The role requires industry experience and deep technical expertise to apply novel machine learning and AI techniques under real-world constraints. The focus is on delivering impactful, reliable AI systems that demonstrate measurable value in practical, industrial environments.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-driven software applications (including Vision Language Action Models (VLAs)) for robotic systems, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, and other software engineers to integrate AI applications with robotic hardware
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and industry standards

Essential Skills
