Bitpanda, Berlin-based fintech, is seeking a Senior AFC Compliance Officer for Germany to build and run a scalable AML/CFT and sanctions framework. You will act as the key senior AML control owner in Germany, ensuring compliance with GwG, BaFin, FIU, EU AML/CFT rules, and Travel Rule across Bitpanda Group standards.

Qualifikationen

• Senior compliance professional with proven AML leadership experience (Geldwäschebeauftragter, MLRO, or Deputy MLRO) in fintech/crypto or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of German GwG, BaFin expectations, FIU reporting, MiCAR, and Travel Rule.
• Fluent in German and English; able to collaborate with regulators, auditors, and executives.

Your mission

As Senior AFC Compliance Officer for Bitpanda’s activities in Germany, you will be responsible for building and running a robust, effective and scalable AML/CFT and sanctions compliance framework. You will act as the key senior AML control owner in Germany, ensuring compliance with the German Money Laundering Act, BaFin expectations, FIU requirements, applicable EU AML/CFT rules, the Transfer of Funds Regulation / Travel Rule, and Bitpanda Group standards.

What You’ll Do

• Local Control Ownership: Serve as the appointed AMLO or Deputy AMLO and senior AML control owner for Bitpanda in Germany, establishing and managing a scalable AML/CFT and sanctions framework.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full alignment with local and regional standards, including the German Money Laundering Act (GwG), BaFin expectations, FIU requirements, MiCAR, and the EU Transfer of Funds Regulation / Travel Rule.
• Risk & Controls Oversight: Own the second-level AML control framework, from control design, effectiveness testing, and remediation to supervising high-risk customer reviews, EDD assessments, and sanctions escalations.
• Automation & Data Integration: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Legal teams to drive data‑led, automated improvements across case management, monitoring, and compliance workflows.
• Reporting & Regulatory Liaison: Lead internal and external audits, manage regulatory inspections, and handle regular reporting and interactions with BaFin, the FIU, local senior management, and Group AFC functions.

Who You Are

• Experienced AML Leader: A seasoned compliance professional with a proven track record as a Geldwäschebeauftragter, MLRO, or Deputy MLRO within fintech, crypto, payments, or broader financial services.
• Regulatory Domain Expert: Deeply knowledgeable in the German GwG, BaFin expectations, FIU reporting, MiCAR, sanctions compliance, and the Travel Rule for crypto assets.
• Crypto‑Native Risk Specialist: Adept at identifying and mitigating specific crypto risks, including blockchain analytics, self‑hosted wallets, mixers, chain‑hopping, scams, and sanctions evasion.
• Process & Stakeholder Partner: Highly skilled at translating complex legal requirements into scalable, practical processes while confidently collaborating with senior executives, regulators, auditors, and cross‑functional teams.
• Structured & Bilingual Professional: A resilient, independent team player comfortable in a fast‑paced cross‑border environment, fully fluent in both German and English.
