Job summary

Doodle is looking for a seasoned General Ledger Accountant to join our Berlin-based Finance team. You’ll own the general ledger, monthly close, and payroll processes as the company scales, ensuring accuracy and compliance in a fast-growing environment.

You’ll handle accruals, revenue recognition, intercompany transactions, VAT, year-end close, and collaboration with tax advisors, auditors, and HR. Fluent English and German, 5+ years’ experience, and NetSuite skills are required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a general ledger accountant in an international, multi-entity environment.
• Experience handling month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong payroll knowledge including wage tax and social security, and collaboration with external providers.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger, close processes, and payroll for the Doodle Group (3 entities).
• Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns and assist with annual consolidation and audits.
• Support intercompany settlements, treasury activities and FX management.
• Improve accounting processes with automation and maintain SOX-like controls.

• Your mission: Be the right hand of our Head of Accounting – keep our general ledger, our close and our payroll rock-solid while the company grows fast and thinks big. You’ll be part of our Finance team based in Berlin
• This role is key to our mission of scaling sustainably and giving every team clarity and confidence in their financial decisions
• Own the demanding part of the bookkeeping for the Doodle Group (currently 3 companies): accruals, revenue recognition, bank postings, intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Be a key player in our monthly fast close (workday 3) and prepare the P&L and balance sheet, including all account reconciliations
• Support the year-end closing under local GAAP, the monthly reporting to our main shareholder for consolidation, and our external audits
• Prepare monthly and quarterly VAT and sales tax returns and work closely with our local tax advisors
• Be Accounting’s payroll expert: review, post and reconcile the payroll prepared by our external payroll providers (local tax advisors)
• Assess the wage tax and social security treatment of benefits, team events, non-cash compensation and other employee-related costs – and be the go-to partner for HR on these questions
• Help shape the move of payroll ownership into Accounting: set up compliant processes, controls and documentation so that payroll is always settled tax-compliantly
• Monitor the import of Chargebee invoices into NetSuite, resolve sync errors and make sure revenue and receivables are complete and correct
• Take on accounts receivable tasks such as cash application and open-item management
• Pitch in on day-to-day tasks, e.g. accounts payable and bank postings, whenever the team needs it
• Support treasury: cash management, liquidity planning and FX
• Check payment runs for all our legal entities and set up the related intercompany transactions
• Make our accounting processes more efficient, using automation and AI
• Support the implementation of new tools and processes together with the team
• Report directly to the Head of Accounting, act as her right hand and support her on ad-hoc projects
