Dickens Heath is seeking SEND Tutors and Teachers in the West Midlands to deliver Maths, English or Science tutoring to learners with SEND and SEMH needs. Roles are flexible, including in-person, hybrid, and remote opportunities, and require a compassionate, trauma-informed teaching approach.

Candidates should have 2+ years of teaching experience, familiarity with KS1–KS5, and hold QTS/QTLS with DBS clearance. This self-employed role offers flexible hours and ongoing opportunities.

Qualifikationen

  • 2+ years teaching experience, ideally with SEND/SEMH/MLD/SLD/PMLD.
  • Familiar with teaching English, Maths or Science.
  • QTS/QTLS certification and safeguarding awareness.
  • Enhanced DBS and two professional references.

Aufgaben

  • Deliver in-person, online or hybrid Maths, English or Science tutoring for KS1–KS5 as appropriate.
  • Plan lessons and report progress with regular feedback.
  • Support pupils with SEND/SEMH to raise education standards.
  • Address MLD/SLD/PMLD needs within trauma-informed practice.

SEND Tutor and Teacher role requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
  • Subjects: Familiarity teaching English, Maths, and/or Science
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
  • Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote / online jobs
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment
The SEND Tutor and Teacher role and responsibilities
  • Provide in person, online / remote, and hybrid Maths, English, or Science tuition to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
  • Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 - KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
  • Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
  • Assist in raising the standard of education for young people with SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Support children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)
