Zusammenfassung

Eine führende Forschungsuniversität in Bochum sucht einen Wissenschaftler (Post-Doc) in Vollzeit, um die Forschung über die Auswirkungen von Stress auf biologische Systeme zu erweitern. The MPC, headed by Prof Dr Katrin Marcus-Alic, has been successfully working for many years on the identification of proteins involved in the development of various diseases. The scientific focus is on the protein-analytical study of biological systems using multidimensional separation methods and biological mass spectrometry (MS). Initially, the position is limited to 3 years. In the long term, we are looking for a person with an interest in setting up their own research area with a focus on the "effects of stress on biological systems". Scientists in the group enjoy excellent working conditions in a highly interdisciplinary and friendly research environment.

Your tasks:

We would like to expand our expertise at the MPC and are therefore looking for a suitable person who already has experience in the area of:

  • Metabolomics
  • Lipidomics
  • Mass spectrometry
  • HPLC
  • Data analysis

The necessary infrastructure including liquid chromatography (Vanquish Neo UHPLC), high end mass spectrometers (QExactiveTM HF, Orbitrap FusionTM Lumos, Orbitrap equipped with FAIMS Pro Duo interface, Orbitrap ExplorisTM 480, timsTOF pro2) and a TriVersa NanoMate® are already present in the institute.

In addition to research activities, further tasks also include:

  • writing grant applications and publications
  • teaching and supervision of students
Your profile:

Suitable candidates are required to have already achieved their doctorate in biochemistry, biology and/or bioinformatics (or related areas) and must have already peer‑reviewed, published papers. Teamwork skills as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary field of research are necessary.

You enjoy working in a dynamic team and dealing with students, have the ability to work independently and use your own initiative. You are committed to new tasks and willing to learn. In your field, you are prepared to take responsibility, make decisions and contribute independently to continuous improvement.

Further information:

The position is salaried and based on the collective agreement of the Länder (TV-L). If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the employee will receive pay grade E13 TV-L.
