The position is part of the externally funded project EXPLORA “Perception of materials, objects and spaces through active EXPLORAtion” and is limited for the duration of three years at the professorship for General Psychology and Visual Neurosciences and the Kurt Koffka professorship of Experimental Psychology at the Faculty Psychology and Sports Science.
The job will be paid in accordance with the MSCA stipend rates as specified by the European Comission. The research project financed by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action – Doctoral Network (MSCA-DN).
We offer a cooperative, highly motivated environment and excellent preconditions for further scientific qualification. The research group unites leading experts in the field of perception research. We are part of several larger research consortia on perception (e.g., https://www.theadaptivemind.de/ ) with excellent links to scientists within Europe and worldwide. Our working group has outstanding research resources at hand, visibility within the international community and close networking with partners worldwide (http://www.allpsych.uni-giessen.de ). We routinely have visiting faculty from other leading universities taking sabbaticals or other extended stays in the group. A 3T Siemens scanner is also in the same building.
The city of Giessen is a small university town with a vibrant young population, located just 60 km north of Frankfurt. It is in an excellent location for getting to know the rest of Europe.
Working on the project, especially planning, implementing and executing experiments, data analysis, presenting the results at international congresses, writing publications and engaging in EXPLORA network activities.
The position is designed to encourage intersectoral and international collaboration and secondments. Each PhD position requires a move from another country. For example, to take a PhD position in Germany, you must not have lived in Germany for more than 12 months in the last 3 years. Applications from all over the world are welcome.
