ALTEN is a leading engineering service provider delivering innovative solutions across aerospace, energy, medical tech, railway and automotive sectors. We seek a capable Linux specialist to provide 2nd/3rd line support for Linux-based R&D workstations, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive automated improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with R&D and infrastructure teams, strong RHEL expertise, scripting ability in Bash/Python, and clear, professional English communication.

Formación

• Studies in Computer Science / IT / Engineering or comparable qualification.
• Experience supporting large-scale Linux workstation environments.
• Familiar with ticketing systems and incident management processes.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools.
• Understand software development workflows and release processes.
• Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Strong Linux troubleshooting and system administration skills.
• Understanding virtualization technologies and enterprise workstation environments.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, security.
• Communicate professionally in English; German is an advantage.

Responsabilidades

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for Linux-based R&D and customer workstation environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to RHEL, hardware, virtualization, networking and software installations.
• Analyze and drive resolution of customer and internal escalation cases (Yellow Flag investigations).
• Support software releases, platform updates and integration activities.
• Work with R&D, platform and infrastructure teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Maintain workstation configurations and ensure compliance with platform standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles and troubleshooting guides.
• Contribute to automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency and user experience.

• have successfully completed studiesin Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineeringor a comparable qualification
• have Experience supporting large-scale Linux workstation environments
• are familiar with ticketing systems and incident management processes
• have experience with configuration management and automation tools
• understandsoftware development workflows and release processes
• possess strong hands‑on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• have proven Linux troubleshooting and system administration skills
• have a good understanding of virtualization technologies and enterprise workstation environments
• Experience with Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages
• Solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and security fundamentals
• communicate professionallyin English; German language skills are considered an advantage
