Qualifikationen

Overview

The Faculty of Mathematics has the following job opening: Research Position (m/f/d) (PhD student) ID: Wiss25401

starting: 01.12.2025 or as soon as possible • part-time 75 % • salary according to Remuneration level 13 TV-L • fixed-term

Your Tasks

• scientific research in the area of group theory, in particular measured group theory, geometric group theory and structure theory of locally compact groups (65 %)
• contribution to the faculty's teaching activities to the extent of 3 LVS (25 %)
• collaboration in the academic self-administration and general university administration (10 %)

Employment is conducive to scientific qualification. The possibility to pursue a PhD degree is given and desired.

Your Profile

• completed scientific university degree (e. g. Master’s or Diploma) in mathematics or a subject related to mathematics
• german language skills, both written and spoken sufficient to teach courses in German, or the ability and willingness to acquire such skills
• good knowledge of spoken and written English
• the ability to communicate mathematics clearly
• persistence, creativity and imagination
• independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
• ability to cooperate and to work in a team

Preferred experience and skills

• research experience in group theory or a related field
