Job summary

TUD Dresden University of Technology invites applications for a Research Associate / PostDoc (m/f/x) in the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry I within the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry. The project focuses on ion- computing architectures, ultracapacitors, and porous materials, with electrochemical characterization and team supervision.

Starting January 1, 2027, the position is limited until February 29, 2028, with remuneration according to salary group E 13 TV-L.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science is required.
• Experience in electrochemistry, especially ultracapacitors, cyclovoltammetry, impedance spectroscopy.
• Broad knowledge of materials characterization methods for porous materials.
• Ability to work in an international team and to guide a team.
• High self-motivation and good command of English.
• Capacity for teamwork and organizational talent.

Responsibilities

• Develop a novel generation of computing architectures based on ion computing.
• Develop switchable ultracapacitors and microsupercapacitors for iontronic applications.
• Synthesize porous carbon materials and membranes; develop electrolytes; conduct electrochemical characterization.
• Impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry; data analysis and publication.
• Collaborate with PhD and Master students; contribute to scientific publishing and data management.

starting January 1, 2027. The position is limited until February 29, 2028. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG).

Tasks: The candidate will be in charge of developing a novel generation of computing architectures based on ion computing. Development of novel switchable ultracapacitors and microsupercapacitors for iontronic applications, synthesis of porous carbon materials and porous membranes, development and adaption of new electrolyte formulations, electrochemical characterization, impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, integration into a team of PhD and master students, scientific publishing, data management.
