Scope of work

Full‑time position suitable for part‑time. The Cluster investigates climate dynamics and climate‑related social dynamics and their interactions.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of analytical framework and typology of varieties of climate agency, referencing organisational conditions.
  • Conduct a case study on densification of action into agency at selected sites of climate action.
  • Systematise research findings and develop conceptualisations for different types of climate agency.
  • Play a supporting role in implementing project activities, including workshops, colloquia, and joint publications.
  • Present research findings at specialist conferences and publish results in peer‑reviewed journals, as well as in relevant policy formats.
Profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

  • Doctorate in social sciences (Political Science, Sociology, or adjacent fields) completed or currently being finalised.
  • Academic expertise in social‑science climate research through high‑quality peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods (interviews, ethnographic observations, discourse analysis) and automated content analysis of news articles – an advantage.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and good German language skills.
  • Excellent team player, prepared to take up a leading role in project organisation – communication, team orientation, initiative required.
  • International research experience, strong publication record, networking skills, and interdisciplinary teamwork – desirable.
