Qualifikationen

  • Ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium (Diplom oder Master) in Elektrotechnik, Informationstechnik oder verwandten Disziplinen.
  • Fundierte Kenntnisse in digitaler Signalverarbeitung.
  • Kenntnisse in einer Programmiersprache (Python, MATLAB oder C++).

Overview

Research Assistant (m/f/d) in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Professorship for Medical Engineering at Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg. The position is available as of 01.01.2026 for a limited period until 31.12.2028, within the third-party funded research project “Multi-Frequency SAS”. The activity follows TVöD pay group 13 (39 hours per week).

Responsibilities
  • Signal processing for synthetic aperture sonar
  • Possibility of further academic qualification (e.g. doctorate or habilitation)
  • Carrying out general administrative work as well as academic activities in academic self-administration
Qualification Requirements
  • A completed university degree (Diplom [univ.] or Master) in electrical engineering, information technology, communications engineering, physics or a related discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of digital signal processing
  • Proficiency in a programming language (Python, MATLAB or C++)
Further Desired
  • English language skills at least B2 CEFR
  • Enthusiasm for research in an international team
  • Interest in a sophisticated application of digital signal processing for (hydro-)acoustics

Employment Type and Conditions

The employment is based on TVöD in conjunction with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-Term Scientific Contracts). In principle, activities correspond to pay group 13 (E 13). Part-time employment is possible. The start date may change due to the tendering procedure.
