You’ll advance methodologies for socio‑economic impact assessments, generate precise country‑ and event‑specific estimates, and ensure findings are robust, policy‑relevant, and donor‑ready. You will also coordinate with partners and stakeholders to uphold methodological rigor, contribute to global displacement risk analyses, and enhance IDMC’s visibility through technical forums and knowledge‑sharing platforms.

Location :

What you will do :
  • Lead the design, testing and improvement of methodologies for socio‑economic impact assessments.
  • Oversee data analysis, estimations, ground‑truthing of results and validation of key assumptions, focusing on, but not limited to, INTPA priority countries.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of consultants, research partners and peer reviewers to ensure alignment with donor requirements particularly on socio‑economic impact assessments and displacement risk profiles / assessments.
  • Provide technical advice and support methodological improvements on global displacement risk modelling.
  • Produce and quality‑assure country‑ and event‑specific displacement cost estimates and risk profiles / assessments.
  • Draft policy accessible reports, briefs, and other publications based on technical findings in collaboration with the Policy team.
  • Identify additional data, tools or expertise required to complete deliverables and recommend solutions.
  • Represent IDMC in technical workshops, donor meetings and dissemination events.
  • Ensure the delivery of all Global Insights Hub outputs required under the EU INTPA Project, on time and to the highest standards.
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.
What you will bring :
  • Advanced degree (Master’s required, PhD preferred) in economics, development studies, disaster risk management, environmental studies, statistics, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 7‑10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in applied research, socio‑economic analysis, or policy‑focused assessments in displacement, disaster risk reduction, climate change or development.
  • Proven track record in developing methodologies, hypothesis testing, and interpreting model results in socio‑economic impact and risk contexts.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency with R, STATA, Python, or similar software.
  • In‑depth knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, climate / displacement scenarios, and socio‑economic modelling.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills, including planning, resourcing and multi‑stakeholder engagement.
  • Independent, proactive, and solution‑oriented, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) required.
  • Strong experience coordinating consultants, research partners, and peer reviewers, ensuring methodological rigor and quality assurance.
  • Previous experience managing donor‑funded research projects and delivering outputs under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with governments, donors and international organizations at technical level.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
What we offer :
  • Duty station: Remote position - NRC representation office‑based in either Berlin, Brussels, London or at the head office in Oslo (Employer of Record locations in Europe where NRC has an arrangement may also be considered).
