This position is planned for various locations including Mannheim, Salzgitter, Kassel, Berlin, München.
We are seeking a Subsystem Manager to lead and coordinate the design, development, integration, and validation of a specific subsystem within railway projects (e.g., Rolling Stock, Signalling). The role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to interface with multiple stakeholders to ensure delivery in line with requirements, budget, and schedule.
Your Tasks:
- Implement the Project Strategy in alignment with contractual obligations and project targets specific to the assigned component.
- Proactively support the achievement of overall project performance.
- Identify and promptly report any deviations that may impact project objectives; actively participate in risk and opportunity management.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant rules, guidelines, and standards, including Customer’s roles, i.e. Health & Safety, Railway Safety, Quality, Sourcing, and Project Management Methodologies
- Ensure the delivery of Quality Cost and Delivery commitments within the assigned Work Package scope through effective execution and delivery.
- Distribute and assign component requirements and Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives to team members.
- Execute the scope of work according to the Component Work Breakdown Structure.
- Plan, monitor, control, and manage all component activities, including scope, schedule, resources, costs, risks, savings, and opportunities.
- Coordinate and support the consistent execution of component objectives and deliverables across Engineering, R&D, and RAMS.
- Lead teams to successfully achieve project objectives, ensuring stakeholder alignment and synchronization at the component level.
- Make component-level decisions and manage trade-offs.
- Oversee rebaselining and change management processes at the component level.
- Monitor component performance, manage KPIs, and report them.
- Actively contribute to resolving cross-functional optimizations and issues.
- Manage interfaces with sub-system team members and the project office.
Your profile:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong background in multinational companies and structured work environments.
- Strong coordination and leadership skills.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Solid understanding of project management processes.
- Ability to coordinate and foster collaboration within cross-functional teams.
- German language level will be preferred in the decision process
