Zusammenfassung

Optimus Search in Berlin seeks a skilled Radar / RF Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and optimise radar and RF subsystems for a Counter-UAV perception stack. You will translate system requirements into robust RF architectures and deliver sensing capabilities that detect, track, and classify aerial targets with precision.

Onsite work in Berlin is mandatory; NATO member state citizenship is required. You will collaborate with hardware, perception, and engineering teams to ensure compliance,

Qualifikationen

  • 5+ years in radar systems design, RF engineering, or active sensor development
  • Deep understanding of radar principles, waveforms, Doppler, detection theory, and RF propagation
  • Hands-on experience with radar hardware — frequency bands, transceivers, antennas, and integration
  • Proficiency in radar signal processing and measurement calibration
  • Experience deploying radar or RF systems into operational/field environments
  • Ability to collaborate across hardware, perception, and controls disciplines
  • Availability for onsite work in Berlin; NATO member state citizenship
  • Experience with FMCW, pulsed, or compact low-SWaP radar for small/UAS targets
  • Knowledge of RF simulation and measurement tools
  • Multi-sensor fusion or tracking-system integration experience
  • Edge-compute deployment and real-time performance optimisation
  • Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, RF Systems, or equivalent.

Aufgaben

  • Define radar architecture, frequency selection, waveform design, link budgets, and performance requirements aligned with detection and tracking objectives
  • Specify, evaluate, and integrate radar transceivers, antennas, RF front-ends, and supporting components; conduct bench and field validation of RF performance, range, resolution, and interference immunity
  • Develop and optimise radar signal processing pipelines — including pulse compression, Doppler processing, CFAR detection, angle-of-arrival estimation, and target extraction — in close collaboration with perception engineers
  • Generate calibrated target measurements to support multi-sensor fusion; align radar outputs with thermal/IR, laser, and inertial data to improve track stability and accuracy
  • Ensure RF design meets regulatory, emission, and environmental hardening standards; address clutter, multipath, and interference in real-world conditions
  • Maintain clear design rationale, specifications, test results, and performance limits; advise cross-functional teams on radar capabilities and constraints

Jobbeschreibung

We are seeking a skilled Radar / RF Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and optimise radar and RF subsystems for our Counter-UAV perception stack. You will translate system requirements into robust RF architectures, from antenna design and waveform definition through to signal processing and real-time integration. Working closely with hardware, perception, and engineering teams, you will deliver sensing capabilities that detect, track, and classify aerial targets with precision. Onsite work in Berlin and NATO member state citizenship are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • RF & Radar System Design: Define radar architecture, frequency selection, waveform design, link budgets, and performance requirements aligned with detection and tracking objectives
  • Hardware Integration & Validation: Specify, evaluate, and integrate radar transceivers, antennas, RF front-ends, and supporting components; conduct bench and field validation of RF performance, range, resolution, and interference immunity
  • Signal Processing: Develop and optimise radar signal processing pipelines — including pulse compression, Doppler processing, CFAR detection, angle-of-arrival estimation, and target extraction — in close collaboration with perception engineers
  • Sensing & Fusion: Generate calibrated target measurements to support multi-sensor fusion; align radar outputs with thermal/IR, laser, and inertial data to improve track stability and accuracy
  • Compliance & Robustness: Ensure RF design meets regulatory, emission, and environmental hardening standards; address clutter, multipath, and interference in real-world conditions
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain clear design rationale, specifications, test results, and performance limits; advise cross-functional teams on radar capabilities and constraints
Required Qualifications
