Zusammenfassung

Optimus Search seeks a Field Test & Trials Engineer to plan, execute, and lead outdoor field trials of our integrated Counter-UAV systems. You will deploy equipment to test locations, conduct live aerial target testing, validate performance under real-world conditions, and capture the data needed to refine and mature our technology.

Onsite work in Berlin and NATO member state citizenship are mandatory. This role bridges laboratory development with operational reality, directly validating system

Qualifikationen

  • 5+ years’ experience in field engineering, trials, or outdoor validation of sensor, defence, robotics, or complex embedded systems.
  • Proven ability to plan, lead, and execute demanding field tests independently and in small teams.
  • Technical proficiency to configure, operate, and diagnose integrated hardware–software systems in the field.
  • Competency in data review, basic analysis, and report writing; scripting/data skills (Python preferred).
  • Strong organisational discipline, adaptability, and problem-solving under variable, often remote conditions.
  • Understanding of aviation safety, airspace regulation, and outdoor operational compliance.
  • Availability for onsite work in Berlin and willingness to travel for extended field deployments; NATO member state citizenship.
  • Familiarity with UAS/aerial target behaviour and counter-UAV system testing.
  • Experience managing test ranges, airspace approval processes, or live aerial trials.
  • Background in defence, aerospace, robotics, or remote sensing.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC, environmental hardening, and rugged system operation.

Aufgaben

  • Define test objectives, protocols, and safety plans; assemble, configure, and verify complete system payloads, sensors, ground stations, and support equipment for deployment
  • Transport, set up, and operate systems at remote or outdoor trial sites; conduct live tests against representative aerial targets across varied weather, terrain, and environmental conditions
  • Ensure accurate, complete recording of radar, RF, video, telemetry, and ground-truth data; monitor system health, performance, and stability throughout trials
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, configuration, or environmental issues during testing; implement workarounds to maintain trial progress and data continuity
  • Process and validate field data; produce clear trial reports, performance assessments, anomaly logs, and actionable findings for engineering teams
  • Adhere strictly to aviation, site, and operational safety regulations; coordinate with airspace authorities, range staff, and internal teams; uphold rigorous safety and compliance standards
  • Translate field insights into requirements for robustness, transportability, deployment readiness, and real-world performance

Key Responsibilities
  • Trial Planning & Preparation: Define test objectives, protocols, and safety plans; assemble, configure, and verify complete system payloads, sensors, ground stations, and support equipment for deployment
