Job Description

As a Quality and Control Engineer, you will have a crucial role from the sales phase to the operational phase in the NEM projects. Your role starts before the production begins by defining fabrication specifications and making inspection plans. External suppliers are closely scrutinized by QC before and during the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with order specifications, regulations, instructions, and procedures. You are responsible for specifying manufacturing requirements for parts, components, and equipment engineered by NEM and produced by third parties, so that NEM can guarantee and certify the quality of the final product.

In this role, we are looking for an engineer that is not only hands-on by doing the work, but also that is interested in how things are designed and put together.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional project teams, especially Project Management, Sales and Engineering.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Planning (pre-), inspection activities and meetings based on NEM and customer requirements to align and ensure implementation of the requirements into the manufacturing process.
• Inspecting and approving products according to specifications and legal regulations at supplier sites.
• Maintaining contact with NEM coordinator regarding inspection planning.
• Translating and implementing quality aspects of both the contract and design codes into technical specifications and reviewing the procedures of the subcontractors to meet those.
• Identifying and documenting issues and proposing improvements to procedures and work instructions.
• Evaluating whether NEM's quality aspects are incorporated into subcontractors' quality plans, manufacturing procedures (such as WPS's, ITP's , and NDT procedures), and final technical documentation.
• Verifying the techniques used and ensuring compliance with approved manufacturing and inspection procedures during inspections.
• Conducting final technical checks on manufacturing books compiled by the supplier.
• Witnessing of factory acceptance tests for NEM EDS components.

What You Bring

• A successfully completed vocational qualification in a technical profession, followed by further training as a Master Craftsman (Meister) or State-Certified Technician (Techniker) or a technical degree (e.g. Mechanical Engineering) with a good abstraction level and familiar with construction codes (e.g. EN 1090, EN 15614, EN 15609, AWS D1.1 & D1.6)
• Strong affinity for practical engineering and mechanical engineering
• An EWE/EWT/ EWS and visual examination level II qualification is a pre
• Capable of translating complex issues into clear, practical guidelines
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to act as a reliable peer in a project team
• Ability to work independently and manage tight schedules
• Excellent German and English skills (both written and spoken)
• Willing to travel regularly
