Digital Waffle is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical Python backend services and cloud infrastructure in a collaborative product team. You will design scalable APIs, optimize performance, and work with AWS Lambda, S3 and serverless patterns in a hybrid Berlin office.

You’ll contribute to architecture, testing, and CI/CD while partnering with frontend, QA, product, and AI specialists in an agile environment.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong commercial experience with Python.
• Experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Hands‑on experience building APIs and backend services.
• Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Flask or similar.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Good understanding of AWS and cloud‑based architecture, particularly serverless technologies.
• Experience with automated testing and modern software development practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions.
• Experience with modern Python dependency management tools such as Poetry, uv or pip.
• A good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability and performance.
• Experience working within an agile engineering team.
• Bonus: DynamoDB experience

They’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python experience to join a collaborative product team and take ownership of important backend services and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys building robust systems, improving performance and working closely with engineers across the wider product organisation.
